Data loggers with wireless radio remote transmission for long-term measurement of temperature, humidity and electrical input signals

Depending on the model, radio data loggers record and save temperature, relative humidity and uniform signals, as well as transmitting the information wirelessly. Data transfer from the radio data logger to the PC therefore occurs wirelessly and quickly via a base station. Multiple radio data loggers can therefore be monitored and jointly analysed simultaneously. Transfer of data by radio removes the need for complicated cable laying, installation and manual collection and analysis of data. This system thus provides the user on site with a means of capturing data that saves time as well as costs. Thanks to the use of radio technology, communication between the data logger and computer is fast and efficient. The radio data loggers have such high transmission power for their type that all data within a radius of up to 900m (free field; 100m in buildings) can be transmitted to the base station. In the event that a radio transmission fails, the data is temporarily stored in the device and transmitted later. No data can ever get lost!


  1. The data loggers are situated in the area being monitored. They send their measurements by radio waves to the RF to USB key. They can be configured or updated wirelessly by radio.
  2. The receivers establish the connection between the PC and the data loggers.
  3. RFM is the software that is installed on the PC. Use it to configure the devices however you want them, monitor their data and download it to the PC.

The loggers have two operating modes:

The data loggers send their measurements to the computer in real time. If, for any reason, the PC doesn’t receive them, the data is temporarily stored in the logger until the next transfer takes place.

The device functions as a data logger, and stores the measurement data in its internal memory. The user can then download the data to the computer when he or she desires.


The tempmate.®-RF’s data transmission technology has been optimised to ensure easy integration and high levels of efficiency. Radio transmission occurs on a frequency that doesn’t require a licence or authorisation from national telecommunications authorities, and which is therefore also free of charge. The frequency used is the ISM (Industrial, scientific and medical) band. These frequencies are used in a wide variety of applications where criteria such as wireless range or low power consumption are decisive. These include household technology, security, remote reading of meters, toys, weather stations…

The frequency used, 868MHz in Europe, enables large ranges to be achieved with short antennas:

  • In free field and with ¼ antenna (just 8.6cm), up to 800m.
  • Transfer through reinforced concrete walls is possible.
  • Transfer is not affected by the human body, as is the case with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth technologies.
  • Disruption is infrequent, as this frequency is only used for industrial, scientific or medicinal applications.
