It should, in future, be possible for us to do a factory-based configuration, and we can give you more information about this in a separate message.

My location is not showing accurately. Is the device faulty?

No, the location notification is done through the GSM module, and this means that there can sometimes be discrepancies of several kilometres, because the logger always communicates with the nearest available transmitter when it is notifying locations.

I have a delivery going to “…”, can I use the tempmate.®-GS for this one?

You can find a list of the complete network coverage at:  https://www.tempmate.com/product/tempmate-gs/ In principle, the system can be used in practically every country in the world. If your destination country is not included in the coverage list, please send us a message about this using our contact form.

Does the tempmate.®-GS have GPS? How does it send the data without GPS?

No, it does not have GPS. It is widely, but incorrectly, believed that the data are transmitted via GPS. GPS is only the "Global Positioning Service", which the system uses to calculate its own position. This system is not set up to transmit data in both directions. We use something else to transmit data, namely similar-sounding GSM technology (Global System for Mobile communication), in short, the cell phone network.

Can the data logger be used for a stationary monitoring situation?

Of course, and it will not need to have any impact on the existing network system.

I have started the data logger, but I do not see any data.

The status in the Device Overview in the Cloud should be set as “active” within half an hour. Please ensure that the data logger has reception, whenever it is started. Display of the measurement data can be delayed by up to 24 hours, depending on the transmission interval that has been stipulated in the settings.

My data logger is not reacting anymore!

Please check how long the data logger has been active, and how long the transmission interval setting has been fixed at. In principle, at least 90 transmissions can be made, before the battery runs out. When you are setting it up, please take note of the dynamic battery runtime calculator in the tempmate.cloud Has the device accidentally been stopped? You can check this in your Cloud. If the device has stopped reacting for any other reason, please send us a message about this using our support form in the tempmate.cloud

What happens when the data logger has no reception?

The data are stored in the logger. They will be automatically transmitted as soon as the tempmate.®-GS has reception again. Please make sure, when you are starting the data logger, that it has good enough reception to log itself into the Cloud.

What kind of SIM-card do I need for the tempmate.®-GS?

There is already an integrated SIM-card inside the device, in the form of a SIM chip. The data volume charge has already been paid on your behalf.

Can you check in the Cloud, whether and when the tempmate.®-GS has uploaded data?

In the Device Overview you can see the last upload under "Last Activity" and in the "Device View" you can display a graph of the individual transmission intervals (as times when data was stored in the database).

The LEDs on my tempmate.®-GS are flashing constantly, what does this mean?

The LEDs on your tempmate.®-GS show the status of the device. Generally, the data logger has three LEDs, which display the most important operating data. The LEDs are defined as follows:

  • blue: indicates that the device is carrying out a transmission (fast flashing), or that the last data have been successfully transmitted (slow flashing).
  • green: indicates that the device has been started, and there is no alarm. A correct start is confirmed with a series of 10 flashes. Status OK, no alarm, is indicated by slow, green flashing. If the LED stays green for 3 seconds, after the device has been started, this means that it has successfully connected to the Cloud (initial data set) and if it stays green for 3 seconds after it has been stopped, this means that  the last set of remaining data has been successfully transmitted.
  • red: indicates that the device has registered an alarm (slow flashing, green is not flashing any more). Successful stopping of the device is indicated by 10 fast flashes. Finally, the device delivers its last set of data, and then carries on logging in the background until the battery runs out.

At the moment, there are no specifications that clearly verify suitability for vacuums. However, various customers use the devices in vacuum environments. If doing so, ensure that the vacuum is not built up suddenly, but rather evacuated evenly. In this way, the logger will be evacuated with its environment. Furthermore, ensure that the logger is not exposed to high humidity in the vacuum without protection, as otherwise, when venting it, moisture can diffuse into the logger. However, we suggest to all customers that they purchase a logger and test its suitability for their own application. In such circumstances, we can loan you a communication interface.

tempmate.®-B5

What will happen with tempmate.®-B5 if temperature exceeds +140°C? Will it be damaged or it will be just not able to record high temperature?

We cannot guarantee you that the device will work after applying it for the higher temperatures than it was designed. We have no particular results about what will happen to a logger if it will be more than +140 °C. But if it was designed with precaution that it should be used with temperature till +140 °C it means that if you would like to try it out by more than recommended +140 °C you will have to be aware of all risks and take the responsibility in case of damage of the device.

tempbase.®-D

What do the alarm settings “Single” and “Cumulative” mean?

The normal alarm is a single alarm. Differences arise when using alarm delays. For a single alarm, the duration of the alarm delay must be one-piece (for example, 30 minutes permanently above the threshold). If the limit is fallen below again after 10 minutes, the alarm delay starts again when it is exceeded again from the front. With a cumulative alarm, all alarm events are added up and an alarm is generated when the maximum alarm delay is reached. Example with an alarm delay of 30 minutes: Threshold is exceeded twice by 10 minutes - No alarm cumulative, No single alarm Threshold is exceeded again by 15 minutes - Alarm Cumulative, No Individual Alarm Since the sum of the alarm times was 35 minutes, the accumulated alarm is output - since the limit has not been output by more than 30 minutes at a time, no single alarm is issued. How long the temperature was above the limit can also be read in the PDF report.

The displayed runtime of my logger does not match the actual battery life

The displayed runtime is calculated based on the available memory and the measurement interval. The battery life may vary depending on the ambient conditions, so particularly low or very high temperatures affect the battery life. The runtime is specified until the memory is full

How can I set the time of the loggers, if only one time zone can be selected?

The time is synchronized during programming with the current system time. Make sure that the system time is set correctly

Can less than 5 alarm limits be entered for a multi-alarm? For Example. only two upper ones

Yes, that is possible

The tempbase software shows me an almost full battery, it was still empty after some time of usage.

The software calculates an estimated battery level based on the voltage. The used batteries can maintain their voltage for a very long time and drop rapidly at the end of their life. This ensures that the batteries used achieve a long service life, but a battery level calculation is only very imprecisely possible. Please change the batteries of the loggers regularly and in time, as they can quickly degrade under high load (especially low temperatures) towards the end of their lives

I get a message “Current measurement interval is over the recommended 15 minutes …” is this a problem?

No, the logger works normally, it is possible that the battery is full before reaching the maximum storage capacity. According to EN12830 the measuring interval should be kept less than 15 minutes. Most of our customers use a measurement interval of 10 minutes

Can I create a new report in the tempbase software for a certain period of time?

No, the generation of new reports with a section of the data is not possible

What does ring buffer mean?

Ring memory means that your datalogger does not stop when it reaches its maximum memory capacity, but overwrites the oldest value and thus runs in an endless loop. Be sure to periodically evaluate the logger and back up the data as this setting may result in loss of data if the logger is not evaluated over a long period of time

What does “temporary report” mean?

If this setting is enabled, you can download a temporary PDF report from your datalogger without having to stop it. The logger can be used directly without restarting it. Your previous records are not lost.

Do I have to re-enter the configuration for each logger?

No, create your configuration in the tempbase software and select "Save Setting", now you can save your current configuration as a template on your PC. To transfer this configuration to a logger, select "Load Setting" and open the template. This can now be saved as usual on the logger

Do I need the tempbase.®-D for my daily work with the logger?

No, the software is only needed for programming the loggers or for advanced evaluation functions. You can easily download your reports as a PDF from your tempmate.® datalogger. The software is not needed for this
